The final luge events for this championship were held in the Siberian city of Bratsk in February 1974. Featuring a dynamic, high-contrast photo-graphic style, it captures an athlete mid-run bearing competition number 346. The upper left carries the sport designation in bold Cyrillic: “САННЫЙ СПОРТ” (“Luge / Sledding”). The bottom corner is anchored by the minimalist multi-coloured emblem of the RSFSR Spartakiad games — a stylised evergreen tree set against a target-shaped snowflake pattern — framed by a bold red and blue geometric chevron. This is a brilliant piece of vintage graphic design that adds an authentic mid-century aesthetic to any home office, gym, or creative studio space.

The Spartakiad was the premier multi-sport event of the Soviet Union, designed to rival the Olympic Games while promoting mass athletic participation across the constituent republics. The Winter Spartakiad of the RSFSR was the highly competitive regional pipeline that determined which elite winter athletes would represent the USSR on the global stage. Soviet athletes dominated luge internationally throughout the 1970s, and this poster is an authentic piece of that highly organised state sports machine — produced for a specific regional event and never intended for wide distribution.

Authenticity

100% Guaranteed Original Vintage Poster — not a modern reprint or reproduction.

Sport: Санный спорт (Luge / Sledding)
Event: 5th Winter Spartakiad of the Peoples of the RSFSR, 1974
Final luge events: Bratsk, Siberia, February 1974
Publisher: Sports Events Administration, Committee for Physical Culture and Sports, Council of Ministers of the RSFSR
Year: 1973 (approved for print 18 July 1973)
Print run: 3,000 copies
Origin: RSFSR, USSR
Size: 58 × 88 cm (22.8 × 34.6″) — large Soviet format
Medium: Original offset lithograph on heavy paper

Condition

Overall: Excellent (Vintage Grade A-)

Wear: Minor, negligible soft wrinkling along the extreme edges from decades of storage.
