A rare and striking piece of mid-century Soviet typographic design — an original 1964 concert broadside (afisha) produced for a Sunday evening performance at the Leningrad State Academic Capella, featuring the Children's Choir of Leningrad Radio and Television under Y.M. Slavnitsky and the V.V. Andreev Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments.

Unlike the illustrated theatre posters of the era, this afisha relies entirely on the raw authority of letterpress typography — bold, hand-set block lettering in deep crimson and black against a warm cream ground. Produced by a regional state printing house for immediate street display, these broadsides were inherently ephemeral: pasted up, rained on, and papered over once the concert concluded. That a specimen from this specific April 1964 print run has survived in collectable condition is genuinely uncommon. The program itself reflects the cultural ambitions of the Khrushchev Thaw — Russian and foreign classics alongside works by contemporary Soviet composers, performed at one of the USSR's most prestigious concert halls.

An exceptional document for collectors of Soviet musical history, Cold War ephemera, or mid-century graphic design — and a commanding typographic object in any interior.
